Employment Opportunities at Joe's Gardens

 

Joe's Gardens is a seasonal, working farm during the months of January through September. We are typically looking for new hires during mid-January and March, and then again in late summer. Because we are a working farm, we ask the following of our employees:

  • Must be physically able to safely lift up to 60 pounds
  • Be available to work full time (up to 40 hours per week), may include Saturdays and Sundays
  • Have and maintain rubber or all weather boots - we recommend minimum of 12" clearance up the calf
  • Have a rain jacket (rain pants are strongly recommended).
  • Be willing to work at a fast, efficient pace in all kinds of weather conditions.
  • Be willing to work with the public and fellow employees in a friendly, polite and helpful manner.
  • Joe's Gardens follows the Center for Disease Control, WA Department of Health and other local resources for guidance on mask mandates, general operations and other COVID related guidance. Until further notice, we require face masks that cover your nose and mouth while working in a public setting (no buffs and no single ply cotton masks) 

Duties will include, but are not limited to, working our retail stand, planting in our fields and greenhouses, harvesting and washing produce, and many other farm related duties and responsibilities.

Positions Available for 2022:

Joe’s Gardens is hiring!

We are looking to fill a few positions around the farm for 2022. Are you a friendly, efficient, hardworking, focused individual with an interest in gardening and farming? All applicants must be at least 18* years old.

Joe's Gardens hires minor (between 14-17 years old) workers, but at this time all of our minor worker postions are filled. 

 

Garden Center Coordinator

We are looking for a garden center coordinator to oversee our retail nursery operations. This position is Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week. Duties will include nursery/plant buying and merchandising, receiving of plant orders, maintenance and care of plants and customer service in our retail area. We are a seasonal nursery; around June we transition from a full nursey to field based operations. At this time, duties will shift to harvesting and bouquet tying of Joe’s grown flowers while continuing to oversee and manage a smaller nursery in our retail area and general support of farm operations. 

Qualificiations for Garden Center Coordinator:

Must have knowledge of and the ability to care for vegetable plants, annuals and perennials that thrive in our area. This position is fast paced, physical and requires the ability to safely lift upwards of 60 pounds throughout the workday. Must have the ability to load, unload, push and pull plant racks, and work outside in all weather conditions. Computer/online ordering skills needed, good communication skills, be an independent worker who is well organized and focused. 

 

 

General Farm Support positions available for our 2022 growing season:

We are looking for some energetic indviuduals who enjoy working outside in a farm and garden environment. Responsibilities may include customer service in our front retail barn (including cashiering), greenhouse and field work, flower bouquet tying, delivery driving, and other farm duties. This position is fast paced, physical and requires the ability to safely lift upwards of 60 pounds throughout the workday. Between 40-50 hours per week, may include weekends (various shifts available). During peak season shifts are 7am-6pm.
